Tillman faces the Red Sox in Series Opener

BOSTON- 7:10pm ET– Baltimore’s RHP Chris Tillman will take the hill vs a familiar foe, former top Orioles prospect LHP Eduardo Rodriguez. Rodriquez has seen his fair share of struggles to start his 2018 campaign, in his debut he allowed five hits and three runs over 3 2/3 innings. Good news for the Orioles they have seen success against the lefty, Rodriguez is 3-5 with a 4.67 ERA vs Baltimore.

Two big bats have seen success for the Orioles vs Rodriguez. Manny Machado & Adam Jones are both hitting .240 AVG in 25 AB, Jones has added in 2HR & 6RBI within those at-bats. Machado and Jones will look to spark the Orioles offense into form in game one of the series. Winning game one of the series can do big things for a ball club and as seen in New York the Orioles have all the capability to hang around in the AL East. Taking game one will set the Orioles up well, Cobb will make his long awaited debut Saturday, #BundyDay on Sunday, and the series closes out with Andrew Cashner Monday.

Tillman will look to do his part vs the loaded Red Sox lineup, Tillman has seen success against the Red Sox going 10-4 with a 3.03 ERA in 21 career starts. Tillman will need to locate his four-seam fastball better and use mix in his arsenal of a two-seam fastball, changeup, and cutter to keep the Red Sox hitters uncomfortable.

Boogies Prediction:

I have some odd feeling that the Orioles may get a flashback to 2014 Tilman but I can only hope, if so look for the Orioles to take game one.

  • Tillman: 6IP, 5K, 2 ER
  • Jones: 3-for-5 (3RBI)
