Tillman Named Orioles Opening Day Starter

Chris TillmanAs many of you may have predicted, Chris Tillman has been named the Orioles started for Opening Day. Tillman takes the mound at Camden Yards on March 31 as the Orioles take on the 2013 World Series champion, Boston Red Sox.

Tillman secured that spot being the most consistent pitcher for the team in 2013, leading the starting staff in multiple categories, including wins, ERA, and strikeouts. Having his first All-Star selection in 2013, Tillman was a 16-game winner. He is the unquestioned leader of a relatively young staff and he will look to have continued success in the upcoming season. The Orioles originally acquired him as part of the package for Erik Bedard; along with Adam Jones, George Sherrill, Kam Mickolio, and Tony Butler. Out of that trade, Tillman and Jones became stars for the Birds, while Erik Bedard never regained the greatness he showed in Baltimore.
