The Marlins Blank the Orioles

In the first of two games against the Miami Marlins at Camden Yards, the Baltimore Orioles lose four to nothing. John Means got the start for the Orioles tonight and Pablo Lopez got the start for the Marlins.

Means held the Marlins scoreless until the top of the fifth inning when Francisco Cervelli homered to left field to take a one to nothing lead. Travis Lakins Sr. came in to the game to take over for Means in the top of the fifth.

In the top of the sixth, Jon Berti recorded a RBI single to bring in Jonathan Villar to score for the Marlins. This brought the Marlins’ lead to two to nothing. To add on to the Orioles’ defensive woes, Renato Nunez committed a fielding error. This allowed Logan Forsythe to extend the lead to three to nothing.

Fast forward to two innings later, Jesus Aguilar homers to left field to finally end the scoring. This brought the game to a four to nothing lead for the Marlins that the Orioles could not overcome.

The Orioles look to tie the series tomorrow evening. Thankfully, the Orioles are still in second place in the American League East. However, they are three games back from catching the red hot Yankees.
