Juan Soto the wonderkid

When you think of Juan Soto, what is the first word that comes to your mind? When I think of Soto, I think Wonderkid. The kid is a superstar, and you can’t deny that, even if you don’t follow or like the Nationals.

As a superfan, I find him very promising. Soto is only 19, and he looks like Harper did in his 2012 NL rookie of the year season. If Soto keeps up this pace, he will most certainly win the Rookie of the Year.

With the stats he has, he is well on his way to possibly defeating Ozzie Albies in rookie of the year voting. .323 AVG, 6 HR, 16 RBI in 29 games is insane, and just to think he’s only 19. The Wonderkid, or JUANderkid, is a beast, and there doesn’t seem to be any stopping him.

Soto is a rare type of player that only comes once in a while. Even though Bryce Harper is slumping, he and Soto are a dynamic duo when Harper is playing well. Soto has been coming up big for the Nationals, producing game winning plays. Most recently, he had a two run double that won the game for the Nats over the O’s 4-3 on Thursday night. On Monday, against the Yankees in the resumed first game, he destroyed a home run that almost hit the tank with Max Scherzer’s eyes in right field. Soto did get a ball into the last row of the second deck this season as well.

I like to think of the Red Hot chant that people might use in color war events at camp. The last line fits perfectly about Soto. “Once he starts he can’t be stopped.” Once he begins a hot streak, he is a pitcher’s worst nightmare.

He’s coming up big, and hopefully he gets the Nationals one step closer to a world championship.
