The Hershey loses third straight road game to the Rockford IceHogs 5-2

The Hershey Bears finished out their Midwest road trip Sunday afternoon against the Rockford IceHogs in a 5-2 loss. In what seems to be an ongoing situation, the opposing team scored first. At 3:30 in the first period Anthony Louis would catch a quick pass from Henrik Samuelsson and score against Hershey goalie Ilya Samsonsov, putting the IceHogs on the board. Tyler Lewington tied the game up at 8:49 in the period, giving him his first goal of the season.

The second period started with Mike Sgarbossa putting Hershey on the penalty kill at 1:57 in the period. At 3:13, just over one minute into the Admirals’ power play, Jordan Schroeder would capitalize on the extra man advantage and put the IceHogs ahead for the second time in the game. Liam O’Brien would get his second goal of the season, at 6:56 tying the game 2-2. Lucas Johansen and Garrett Pilon would also earn points on the play with their assists on the goal. It wouldn’t take Rockford long to answer back, when Graham Knott pulled the IceHogs ahead yet again at 8:17 in the period.

In the last period of the game Rockford pulled ahead by two when Terry Broadhurst found the back of the net at 10:21 in the period to make it 4-2. With Hershey’s goalie pulled at 18:20 Matthew Highmore would shoot an empty netter to assure the IceHogs 5-2 win. Hershey outshot Rockford 38-29. Going 0-3 on the power play and 3-4 on the penalty kill. Hershey’s record drops to 0-5-0-0 for the season. The road trip doesn’t end for Hershey as they head Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to take on long time rivals The Penguins on Wednesday, Oct. 17 for a 7:05PM puck drop.
