The Baltimore Orioles offense surges, takes down the Oakland Athletics 12-4 game recap

Andrew Cashner took the mound for the Baltimore Orioles tonight, looking to help his team bounce back from a three game sweep by the Yankees.

In the bottom of the 1st, Trey Mancini continued being Trey Mancini, hitting a solo shot to take a quick 1-0 lead. Mancini now has 5 homeruns on the short season.

Cedric Mullins started his hot night in the second inning, hitting his first of two triples, scoring Jesus Sucre and Richie Martin. Mullins would also score in the play due to a throwing error, giving the Orioles a 4-0 lead.

The Oakland Athletics would get two back in the top of the 3rd, when Josh Phegley honored off Andrew Cashner cutting the orioles lead in half to 4-2.

Jonathan Villar would also keep his bat hot, hitting his third Homerun of the season in the 4th inning. It was a two run shot to centerfield, giving the Orioles a 6-2 lead

Orioles pitcher Andrew Cashner would he taken yard again in the 5th, a solo shot by Mark Canha, making the game 6-3 in the Orioles favor still.

Jimmy Yacabonis would come in to pitch with one out in the 6th inning. Andrew Cashner finished his night giving up 4 runs, 3 of them earned, off of 9 hits. The one unearned run came in the 6th when Orioles catcher Jesus Sucre made a throwing error and a steal to second, scoring Marcus Semien to make the game 6-4 Orioles.

Cedric Mullins would come in clutch again in the 6th with a sacrifice fly to give the Birds a 7-4 lead.

Mychal Givens came into pitch in the 8th with one out, and got off a bases loaded jam to secure the orioles 7-4 lead.

The Orioles broke it open in the home half of the 8th, when Jonathan Villar singled in two runs to make the lead 9-7. Villar would then be scored by Trey Mancini, Mancini recorded his 15th base hit of the season, extending the lead to 10-4

Hanser Alberto would add two more runs for the orioles in the 8th, giving the Orioles a 12-4 lead

Nate Karns took the mound in the 9th for the Orioles, having an easy 3 up 3 down inning to secure the Orioles 12-4 victory.

Andrew Cashner moved to 2-1 with this win, and the Orioles improve to 5-5 on the season

The Orioles take the field again tomorrow, facing off again the Oakland Athletics for game 2 at 7:05 pm
