The Baltimore Orioles Lose In A Heartbreaker to the New York Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles drop the second game of the series, eight to six to the New York Yankees. To get the scoring started, Aaron Judge scores on a sharp ground ball by Giancarlo Stanton. That gave the Yankees a one to nothing lead in the top of the first inning. Soon after that, Luke Voit hits a grand slam to center field, giving the Yankees a five to nothing lead.

The Orioles answered right back with a Hanser Alberto home run to left center that brought home Austin Hays, which cut the lead to five to two. The scoring did not stop there; in the bottom of the second inning, Rio Ruiz hits a home run to center field. At this point, the Orioles were only down five to four.

Mother nature intervened during the fifth inning and the game was under an hour and a half rain delay.

Once the game resumed, the pitching for both the Orioles and Yankees did not allow either team score until the bottom of the eighth inning. Pedro Severino looked to be the hero of the game when he launched a two run home run to left field. The Orioles took the lead with a score of six to five.

However, Aaron Judge was not going down without a fight. He launched a two run home run of his own in the top of the ninth inning to take back the lead. Zack Britton became the Orioles’ kryptonite when they came up to bat in the bottom of the ninth.

The Baltimore Orioles are now two and three on the year and only two games out of first place.
