Thank you Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles season is over and the team cleaned out their lockers today as they prepare for the offseason. Some big questions remain about the Orioles as they prepare for the 2015 season, like will Nick Markakis and Nelson Cruz be back with the Orioles? Before I start posting about the Orioles next season I want to take a post to thank the Orioles for such a great season.
As a blogger/sportswriter it is important to always write the news first and be a fan second. The more I work on this website the more of a voice I feel I have gained. The Orioles had a fantastic regular season finishing with 96 wins and 66 losses. The Orioles swept the ALDS before losing the ALCS to the Kansas City Royals. In my opinion the Orioles faced the wrong team at the wrong time. The Orioles are a good weather team and facing the Royals at home in bad weather did not help their cause.
The Orioles have had three straight winning seasons and have made it to the playoffs two out of the past three years but this is by far their best team. Despite losing Matt Wieters, Manny Machado and Chris Davis the Orioles were still able to win. Buck Showalter was magical yet again and every button he pushed seemed to work up until the ALCS. The Orioles fell just short of the World Series and after all the years of losing that is something to cheer for. There were really too many magical moments to pick from, the Orioles were a highlight reel making team that never felt out of a game.
Next season should be another great one, the Orioles have already resigned J.J. Hardy and I would not be surprised if they brought back Markakis and Cruz as well. Plus the past three seasons the Orioles have been great at finding diamonds in the rough.
This season was also a great season for the website, after four years the website finally started to get a large following on twitter and we gained over 10,000 during the Orioles season alone. The views on the website have also grown. I had tons of fun live tweeting the games and working on all the post and stories. I would also like to thank all the writers that have worked on the website writing about the Orioles. A lot of the writers have come and gone but I am thankful to all of them. A final thank you goes to those who have followed us and visited my website… that means you! Thank you! Now bring on the 2015 season!!
