Tate Jr. Falls One Assist Shy Of A Triple Double In A Big Win Over Hagerstown Community College

Skipjacks take down the Hawks in a thriller 86-64. This win keeps the playoff hopes alive in the MD state conference and the region XX tournament. This was a bounce back win for the Jacks after two tough loses to CCBC Dundalk and Potomac State College by 4 and 6 points respectively.

The team came out attacking with contributions from the starters and the bench. Anthony Tate Jr. had one of the best games of his young career falling one assist shy of a triple double (30 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists). To follow that up Jordan Alston hit a game high 5 three pointers to finish with a line of 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.

This scoring output by their backcourt was what Chesapeake needed along with their strong defense for 40 minutes. Coach Brown was as excited about his defense as he was the offense and stated, “ Coach Strowbridge and Coach Washington put up a great defensive game plan that held HCC under their 75 points per game average.” With this win it puts the Jacks In the driver seat to have a home game to start the playoffs off.

The Skipjacks of Chesapeake play next Wednesday 2/7 against Montgomery College at home (7 pm tip).
