Three Tides that Have High Trade Value

Tyler Wilson (8)With the MLB trade deadline coming up, I thought I would take a look at three Norfolk Tides’ players who has the most trade value. I’m not saying these players will be traded because I have no inside information about anything the Orioles do. This is simply just a list of three players who have been performing really well at the Triple-A level who could help other major league teams either this season or next.

  1. Tyler Wilson

Tyler Wilson has been a huge help for Norfolk’s injury-plagued rotation since his promotion from Double-A Bowie. Wilson was dominate at the Double-A level with a 10-5 record and a 3.72 ERA and continued it with Norfolk. In three starts with the Tides, Wilson has a 2-0 record with an ERA of 2.25. Tides make it a Comeback

Josh Stinson, Norfolk’s starter, pitched just 2.2 innings Tuesday night giving up five runs on seven hits. Stinson was replaced by Randy Wolf who pitched 2.1 innings and gave up one run on two hits. When Wolf exited the game in the fourth, Norfolk was down 6-2.

The Tides picked up two runs in the first inning. With the bases loaded and one out in the inning, Steve Clevenger grounded into a force out at second base but a throwing error was made to first which allowed Jemile Weeks and Francisco Peguero both to score. Orioles Fall to the Tigers 4-1

The Baltimore Orioles fell to the Detroit Tigers 4-1 Monday night, as starter Bud Norris pitches his longest outing as an Oriole (7 2/3 innings). Norris started off the game pitching extremely well. The 6’0” right-hander struck out four out of the first nine batters he faced in the game.

Norris, however, quickly ran into trouble in the fourth inning. The Orioles starter gave up a leadoff walk to Ian Kinsler, a single to Miguel Cabrera, a double to Victor Martinez, and finally a sacrifice fly to Austin Jackson in the inning.

Orioles option Yoon and Monell, re-assign Paul

The Baltimore Orioles have optioned Suk-Min Yoon and Johnny Monell to AAA Norfolk.  The Orioles have also re-assigned Xavier Paul to minor league camp.

Yoon signed a three-year deal with the Orioles earlier this offseason had trouble getting into the United States.  Yoon will be able to get more innings in at the minor league level, the Orioles look at him as a starter or reliever.  The Orioles view Yoon as a Major League quality pitcher.
