Tides make it a Comeback

Down 6-2 in the fourth inning of Tuesday night’s game, the Norfolk Tides scored seven unanswered runs to beat the Pawtucket Red Sox 9-6 in 10 innings. Norfolk Tides catcher Steve Clevenger racked up some very impressive numbers last week for the triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The 28-year-old went 16 for 27 (.593 avg.) with 9 runs, 7 doubles, and 13 RBIs in just six games.

The Catcher Situation gets More Complicated

The Baltimore Orioles have traded Triple-A catcher Johnny Monell to the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash considerations according to Chris Cotillo of SB Nation. The deal comes five days after the Orioles traded Troy Patton to the San Diego Padres for catcher Nick Hundley and one day after the Orioles optioned Steve Clevenger to Triple-A.

Clevenger playing well for the Orioles

Finding a good backup catcher is difficult, the Baltimore Orioles have had a lot of trouble with backup catchers the past few seasons.  Enter Steve Clevenger who has brought stability to the Orioles backup catcher position. The Orioles acquired Clevenger last season in the Scott Feldman trade with the Chicago Cubs.

Orioles option Yoon and Monell, re-assign Paul

The Baltimore Orioles have optioned Suk-Min Yoon and Johnny Monell to AAA Norfolk.  The Orioles have also re-assigned Xavier Paul to minor league camp.
