Orioles Minor Leaguers of the Week: Zach Davies & Ivan De Jesus

Baltimore Orioles farmhands Zach Davies and Ivan De Jesus both had an outstanding week with their respective teams. Davies, a Bowie Baysox pitcher, threw 13 1/3 innings, giving up 11 hits, 3 ER, 2 walks, while striking out 13 batters and winning both of his starts on the week for the double-A affiliate of the Orioles.

Tides make it a Comeback

Down 6-2 in the fourth inning of Tuesday night’s game, the Norfolk Tides scored seven unanswered runs to beat the Pawtucket Red Sox 9-6 in 10 innings.

Josh Stinson, Norfolk’s starter, pitched just 2.2 innings Tuesday night giving up five runs on seven hits. Stinson was replaced by Randy Wolf who pitched 2.1 innings and gave up one run on two hits. When Wolf exited the game in the fourth, Norfolk was down 6-2.

The Tides picked up two runs in the first inning. With the bases loaded and one out in the inning, Steve Clevenger grounded into a force out at second base but a throwing error was made to first which allowed Jemile Weeks and Francisco Peguero both to score. Read more about Tides make it a Comeback
