Reimold to start rehab at Bowie

200px-Baltimore_Orioles_left_fielder_Nolan_Reimold_(14)Baltimore Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold has been assigned to double-A Bowie to start his rehab assignment.  Reimold has been recovering from a neck injury and has been slowly recovering.  Reimold is often forgot of because he has had so many injury problems.  At one time Reimold was considered one of the Orioles best hitting prospects.

Reimold’s rehab may be a long one because he has been out of baseball for nearly a year recovering.  However it was reported by Brittany Ghiroli that Reimold has a locker with the Orioles now, which may hint at a short rehab. Read more about Reimold to start rehab at Bowie

Orioles Minor Leaguer of the Week: Dariel Alvarez (Again)

Bowie Baysox outfielder Dariel Alvarez played in seven games for the AA outfit last week, hitting .333 (10 for 30), while collecting 8 runs, 4 doubles, 3 HRs, and 10 RBIs. The 25-year-old Cuban is no stranger to my Baltimore Orioles organizational player of the week, as he won the award a month ago.

Alvarez has not only been one of Bowie’s most consistent hitters this season, but he has also been one of the Eastern League’s best players during the 2014 campaign. So far this season Alvarez is hitting .335 (7th in the league), with 30 runs (8th in the league), 9 HRs (5th in the league), and 42 RBIs (tops in the league).

Orioles Prospect of the Week: Dariel Alvarez

Every Monday I will be focusing on a Baltimore Orioles minor league standout player for the previous week. Today we will take a look at Bowie Baysox outfielder Dariel Alvarez. Featuring in five games for the AA outfit this past week, Alvarez hit .480 while racking up an impressive 12 hits, seven RBIs, seven runs, two Home runs, and only striking out once.

The 25-year-old Alvarez was signed last summer by the Orioles, receiving an $800,000 signing bonus (about $20,000 more than fellow Cuban outfielder Henry Urrutia received from the team).

Bowie Baysox Preview

BaysoxAs the Baltimore Orioles begin their 2014 campaign, the AA affiliate Bowie Baysox also start the race to the playoffs.  Looking for a quick start to the season the Baysox have jumped out to a quick 5-1 start after a 4 game sweep over the Harrisburg Senators.  After a rainout on April 7, the Baysox had a doubleheader against the Richmond Flying Squirrels, in which they dropped the first game 5-3.  Even though Bowie may have suffered their first loss of the season they bounced back in the second game of the day with a walk-off win, coming off the bat of Chih-Hsien Chiang.

Orioles send Berry, Ohlman, Ward to minor league camp

The Baltimore Orioles have sent three players to minor league camp today. The Orioles optioned Tim Berry and Michael Ohlman to Double-A Bowie. Brian Ward was reassigned to the minor league camp.

Yesterday we saw similar transactions being placed, that story can be found here.  The Orioles will continue making cuts throughout camp.  None of these players were expected to make the Orioles roster this season.  Though, Ward is a veteran player and team leader of the Bowie Baysox.
