Sucre clears waivers, assigned to Norfolk

As the old saying goes, you can never have too many catchers. Okay, maybe that is a bit of a stretch, but the Orioles have some good news regarding catcher, Jesus Sucre.

Sucre has officially cleared waivers and accepted his assignment to Triple-A Norfolk.

Sucre has played in 20 games for the Orioles this season. In 67 plate appearances, Sucre has batted just .210/.269/.242 on the year.

Although his offensive numbers are subpar, Sucre was brought to the Orioles for his great defensive work behind the plate and his veteran leadership.

Sucre will now join catchers Chance Sisco and Carlos Perez on Norfolk’s roster. He will no doubt be back in the majors sometime soon.
