Stingrays Sign Alternate Captain

Patrick Gaul, the fan favorite for the South Carolina Stingrays, has re-signed with the team for his seventh professional year.

Gaul has been alternate captain for the Rays for four seasons.

The announcement was made at the Stingrays Fan Fest in North Charleston, SC.

While Gaul isn’t the top goal scorer, his role is much deeper. He is well known to be the premier penalty killer in the ECHL.

“With how last season ended, the three years prior we had such good deep playoff runs and to go out after getting swept by a team that I felt we probably should have beat, it didn’t feel right ending that way,” said Gaul. “I still love playing the game and I still love competing so I’ve got at least one more year back with the Rays and I’m looking forward to getting the season going.”

Patrick Gaul also played college hockey for Notre Dame.
