Washington Capitals vs Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup Playoff round one TV schedule:

The Washington Capitals found out on Saturday evening that their first round opponent in the Stanley Cup playoffs will be a familiar foe, however it will be the first time the two teams have met in the playoffs.

The Capitals will face off against another team the dawns a red jersey and another team that has been called “Jerks” by Don Cherry. The Washington Capitals will go toe to toe with the Carolina Hurricanes. The “battle of the jerks”, or the “Jerk bowl” will start on Thursday April 11th in the District at Capital One Arena!

As the higher seed the Caps will have home ice advantage. This will be a 2-2-1-1-1 series. The first two games will be in Washington, before making their way south to North Carolina and Raleigh to the home of the Canes.

Following the two sets of two games the Caps and Canes will alternate hosting games until the first team wins four games and the series!

Series notes:

  1. The Washington Capitals played four regular season games against the Carolina Hurricanes this season. The Caps swept the season series 4-0!
  2. The Canes scored 2.96 goals per game during the NHL regular season. That’s the second lowest among playoff teams in the Eastern Conference. 
  3. This will be Todd Reirden and Rod Brind’Amour’s first postseason as NHL head coach’s.
  4. Since the NHL All-Star break, the Canes have gone 22-9-1, just one point better than the Caps 21-9-2. However since the trade deadline, DC & Carolina both earned 27 points, but the Capitals completed it with one less game played.
