Source: Redskins are targeting Dwayne Haskins

ESPN’s Dianna Russini is reporting this morning that, according to her sources, the Washington Redskins are targeting a quarterback in the draft and have no intentions of trading for Arizona Cardinal’s quarterback Josh Rosen. According to Rossini, Bruce Allen, team president and team owner Dan Snyder are the ones that will be making the call as to what the Redskins do with the 15th pick in the first round of tomorrow night’s NFL draft. According to Russini’s sources, Snyder is targeting Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins. On this morning’s episode of “Get Up” Russini noted that Snyder’s son “went to high school near Dwayne Haskins” and stated that the Redskins’ owner has had his eye on Haskins for quite some time. Additionally, Haskins, who grew up a Redskins fan, impressed Bruce Allen at his pro day. Russini goes on to suggest that scouts and coaches feel that there are many needs to be addressed on the team, but that the front office is committed to drafting a quarterback in the first round.

Of course, there is no guarantee that Haskins will be available at pick 15. Draft guru Mel Kiper has the New York Giants selecting Haskins with the 6th pick in the draft. CBSSports’ Chris Trapasso has him going to the Bengals at five. If the Redskins believe that Haskins may go early, they will need to trade up to get their guy. Yesterday, Jets beat reporter for The Athletic, Connor Hughes, reported that there have been “early talks” between the Redskins and the Jets for Washington to move up to number 3. Whatever the case may be, the next 36 hours promises to be quite a ride. Buckle up folks, and make sure that your smokescreen indicator is fully operational.
