Severe weather threat postpones Nationals and Rockies series opener; roster updates: 7/22/19
The threat of severe weather postponed the series opener for the Colorado Rockies and the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park.
This game will be made up as a doubleheader Wednesday, July 24, with a scheduled start time of 1:05 p.m. ET.
In the meantime, the Nationals have made several roster moves:
- Ryan Zimmerman placed on 10-day IL for plantar fasciitis
- Andrew Stevenson called up from Triple-A Fresno
- Michael Blazek selected from Triple-A Fresno
- Kyle McGowin optioned to Double-A Harrisburg
- Justin Miller transferred to 60-day IL
Additionally, Max Scherzer threw a bullpen today and “felt great.” At this point, his schedule is in the hands of his trainers, but this good news indicates that his IL stint is indeed short, sweet, and without complications.
The ace right-hander could easily return this week and start in either the Rockies or Dodgers series.
Max Scherzer threw a bullpen and feels great. Says his exact schedule is in the hands of the trainers/management, but he’s fired up and barring a setback in the coming days is ready to pitch again.
