Series Preview: Orioles vs. Mets

The Baltimore Orioles travel up to the Big Apple for a brief two game series against the New York Mets. The Orioles have lost seven in a row and come into the series with a MLB-worst 17-41 record. The Mets are losers of four straight and have a 27-30 record. Let’s check out the pitching matchups.

 

Game One: Alex Cobb (1-7, 6.80 ERA) vs. Jason Vargas (2-3, 8.53 ERA)

Alex Cobb will take the mound for the Orioles on Tuesday for the series opener. Cobb has struggled mightily this season, but went seven innings allowing three runs on five hits against the Washington Nationals in his last start.

 

Jason Vargas will get the ball for the Mets in the series opener. Vargas has been abysmal this season, posting a 8.53 ERA over 25.1 innings, but went five scoreless innings against the Atlanta Braves last week.

 

Game Two: Dylan Bundy (3-7, 4.46 ERA) vs. Zach Wheeler (2-4, 5.14 ERA)

Dylan Bundy will get the ball for the Orioles in the series finale on Wednesday. Bundy was been inconsistent in 2018, and is coming off a start against the Nationals in which he allowed three runs on 11 hits over six innings.

 

Zach Wheeler gets the start on Wednesday for the Mets in the series finale. Wheeler has also struggled in 2018, but went six inning allowing two runs against the Chicago Cubs in his last start.
