Yacabonis pitched eight times in the Grapefruit League, allowing three runs on eight hits with five walks and seven strikeouts in eight innings (a 3.38 ERA). The Orioles sent Yacabonis to Triple-A with a plan in place to make him a starter.
Yacabonis has averaged 6.1 walks per nine innings in his twenty major league relief innings. In doing so he posted a 4.35 ERA last season and has recorded 4.6 walks per nine innings over his minor league career. To say the least, Jimmy’s control has been his biggest obstacle. This spring he walked five batters in eight innings.
