Redskins To Re-Sign AP?

The Washington Redskins dropped a hint recently on Twitter about the team’s future with star running back Adrian Peterson.

Peterson signed a one-year deal worth $1.015 million in August, the NFL’s veterans minimum, that gave the ‘Skins depth and options at running back after injuries sidelined key players during the team’s preseason. Starter Derrius Guice went down with a season ending ACL tear while backups Samaje Perine and Byron Marshall both suffered leg injuries.

Peterson finished 2018 with 1,042 yards on 251 carries (4.15 avg) — his best campaign since 2015. The future hall of famer showed flashes of his old self throughout the season, juking and freight-training his way to the end zone seven times, highlighted by a 90-yard sprint for a TD against Philadelphia in Week 13. The run topped Peterson’s career long of 82 yards he set back in 2012 with Minnesota.

Peterson sits atop the NFL’s career rushing list at number eight with 13,318 yards. Well within striking distance of being a top-five all-time running back by the end of his career.

Peterson insists he has many years left in the tank and wants to remain a Redskin.
