Redskins select WR/RB Antonio Gibson with the 66th pick in the 2020 NFL draft

The Washington Redskins have selected Memphis WR/RB Antonio Gibson with the 66th pick of the 2020 NFL draft. When I first heard the pick I was not happy at all. I wanted the Skins to draft Josh Jones as a replacement for Trent Williams. But, the more I’ve looked into Gibson, the more I have started to love the pick.

Gibson is one of the most explosive players in the draft, accumulated 735 yards in just 38 catches. When it comes to running the ball he averaged 11.2 yards over 33 carries. Last year was his only substantial year playing D-1 after playing two years in junior college and sitting most of his junior season.

Redskins vice president of player personnel Kyle Smith said about Gibson, “We’re excited about this kid. He’s a Swiss army knife.” The Skins will most likely use him everywhere. Playing him as a third-down back could be an option or in the slot as a receiver, he could even play on the edges and become a deep threat.
