Redskins Re-sign Defensive Tackle Phil Taylor

The Washington Redskins have re-signed defensive tackle Phil Taylor to a one year deal. Details on the contract have not been released.

Taylor was listed as the Redskins starting nose tackle to start the 2017 season after a great training camp performance.  Taylor tore his left quadriceps during a preseason game against Cincinnati and was placed on injured reserve for the rest of the season.

Taylor, who turns 30 on Saturday, is entering his fifth season in the NFL. The talented defensive tackle was a first round pick for the Cleveland Browns back in 2011. The Baylor product had an impressive rookie season after recording 59 tackles and four sacks. Taylor was named to the All-Rookie team in 2011.

Re-signing Taylor does not impact what the Redskins will do in the 2018 draft. I still expect Washington to get a defensive lineman with the 13th overall pick to help the defensive line which ranked 32nd last season.
