Recap: Orioles vs. Braves weekend Series

Friday- Orioles 10 vs Braves 7

After what seemed to be a close game fought by the Orioles, the Braves were just three outs away from winning the game 3-1 but then it all happened. What happened? Just about everything in the ninth. The Orioles came into the ninth trailing 3-1 and then the bats woke up. Adam Jones started things off by singling to right, Machado walked, and then the hit parade begun. Valencia Singles to score Jones, Schoop hit a double to score Valencia and Machado, Davis then hit a sac-fly to score Peterson (pinch running for Valencia), Joseph added a double of his own to score Schoop, Wilkerson then singled to score Joesph, and Gentry finished the hit parade by singling to center. After all this the Orioles had six hits and added six runs to give the Orioles a solid 7-3 lead headed to the bottom of the ninth.

The Braves fought back having a hitting parade too, Zach Britton failed to shit down the Braves offense and they tied the game at 7-7 after a comeback. The game couldn’t have got more exciting then that and it stayed quiet for the next five innings. Then Machado had enough, leading off the fifteenth Gentry walked and then Machado magic happened. On a hanging slider down the middle of the plate Manny Machado took Peter Moylan deep to left and give the Orioles a 9-7 lead. Schoop would later single to score Rasmus and the Orioles walked away with an epic 10-7 extra inning game in Atlanta.

Saturday- Orioles 7 vs Braves 5

Taking off right where the Orioles offense left off, the Orioles loaded the bases in the top of the first. Clean-up hitter Mark Trumbo or Trumbomb becuase thats what happen, Trumbo hit a bomb to dead center for a grand slam homer. Taking an early lead at 4-0, thats all Bundy needed. Dealing Dylan Bundy threw 6.1 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, and 8 K’s. That wasn’t it for Bundy, he later singled to start the fifth and lead to a bases clearing double by Chris Davis and the Orioles lead 7-2 after five innings.

Zach Britton got to get a second try at closing down the Braves offense in the ninth and that he did. Britton picked up his first save of 2018 and looked to have some sink as well as command back.

Sunday- Orioles 3 vs Braves 7

Looking for the sweep, David Hess was on the hill Sunday vs Atlanata’s young stud Brandon McCarthy. Hess struggled on Sunday after throwing 4 IP, 7 H, 4 K’s, & 5 ER. After an early 2-0 lead for the Braves in the first, Mancini got the Orioles on the board homering to left and cutting the lead to 3-1 after three innings.

The Orioles looked tired after two long games on Friday and Saturday, only racking up six hits, two of witch were homers. The other homer from the birds came in the fifth when Mark Trumbo homered to dead center again.
