Recap: Orioles Lose in Game One against Blue Jays

The Baltimore Orioles placed Evan Phillips, a Salisbury, Maryland native, on the mound for tonight’s game. He started the game off well through his first inning,  but ran into trouble in the second. The visiting Toronto Blue Jays scored three runs in the second, then Sean Gilmartin was put in to relieve, at the top of the third inning.

In addition to pitching woes, the Orioles could not get their offense going against Blue Jays rookie Ryan Borucki. The rookie allowed just three hits (Jonathan Villar, Renato Núñez, John Andreoli), walked Cedric Mullins (unintentional), and struck out 10.

Villar was able to steal two bases; number 25 and 26 on the season.

Final: Blue Jays 5 – Orioles 0

This is the 15th time this season that the Orioles have been shut out.
