Recap: Orioles Blank Blue Jays in Game One

It was time for the Baltimore Orioles to have a good night on both offense, and defense, and tonight was the night.

Hosting the Toronto Blue Jays, Orioles put David Hess on the bump as their starter. He last pitched on August 22, at Toronto. In that game, he was the “losing” pitcher: seven innings pitched, three hits, one run, struck out seven. Tonight? He came out on top; six innings pitched, four hits, zero runs, walked two, struck out five.

Miguel Castro, who has had his ups and downs this season, kept to the charts and delivered a stellar seventh inning; one inning pitched, zero hits, zero runs, walked zero, struck out one.

Paul Fry and Mychal Givens rounded out the pitchers for the night, keeping the Blue Jays to zero runs.

Offensively, the Orioles has a field day. All nine players had a hit in the game. Trey Mancini and Jace Peterson racked up doubles, and Mancini had his 19th homerun of the season, driving in two others.

Captain Adam Jones, and Jonathan Villar successfully stole a base each. Cedric Mullins got back to the basics with a sacrifice bunt.

Final: Baltimore Orioles 7 – Toronto Blue Jays 0
