Recap: Nats Fall To Braves 5-3

The Nats fell to the Atlanta Braves Wednesday night, losing to a score of 5-3. The Nats were looking to even the series at one, but the Braves had other ideas. The Nats sent out Erick Fedde tonight who finished with a line of 5 IP 5 H 5 ER 2 BB 3 K’s. The Braves struck first in the fourth inning on a grand slam by Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna, which ended up being the deciding factor of the game. The Braves would add on a additional home run by William Contreras to make it a commanding 5-0 lead in the fourth.

The Nats fought back in the bottom of the fourth when Yan Gomes homered, making it a 5-1 game at the time. The Nats were saved by their bullpen tonight, as the bullpen produced a line of 4 IP 0 H 0 ER 0 BB 4 K’s making it a close game. The Nats offense came back to life in the eight inning when Trea Turner blasted a hanging curveball over the left field wall, making it a manageable 5-3 game. That would be the end of the Nats comeback, as the Braves bullpen shut down the Nats making it a final 5-3 Braves win.

The Nats will look to avoid the sweep of the Atlanta Braves tomorrow Thursday 5/8 in some afternoon baseball. The Nats will be sending out Jon Lester, making his second start in a Nats uniform. While the Braves will be sending out Drew Smyly. First pitch is scheduled at 4:05PM.
