Recap: Nationals Defeat Mets, 6-4

The Washington Nationals held off the New York Mets, 6-4 on Thursday afternoon in spring training action. The Nats’ record now stands at 7-5. The Mets’ drop to 5-5.

Stephen Strasburg pitched a very strong four innings for Washington. Allowing 1 run and 5 strikeouts while pitching. J.J. Hoover a relief pitcher for the Nationals did good pitching while he had 1 run and 4 strikeouts. Trevor Rosenthal struggled for the Nats as he had 1 earned runs and 3 walks.

Offensively, the long ball ruled for Washington. Belting out singles as a team by Yan Gomez, Ryan Zimmerman, Andrew Stevenson, and Michael Taylor. In the middle of the third inning, Adam Eaton hit a home run.

Defensively, the bottom of the 8th had the most action as Andrew Stevenson singled to the center and Christian Garcia and Taylor Gushue scored.

Tomorrow, the Nationals will face the St. Louis Cardinals at 1:05 in Jupiter. Pitching for the Nationals tomorrow will be Patrick Corbin.
