Recap: Gonzalez throws quality start, Nats drop series to Pirates 2-0

The Washington Nationals were defeated by the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 2-0 on July 11th, 2018. The Nats record is now 46-46, while the Pirates record is now 43-49.

Nationals pitcher, Gio Gonzalez, threw for 6 innings, gave up six hits, two earned runs, walked one batter, tossed four strikeouts, and gave up one home run which brought his ERA to 3.72. Moreover, in the bottom of the 3rd inning, Pirates Outfielder, Starling Marte, smashed a baseball into the stands to give the Buccos a 2-0 lead, in which would be the only runs of the game as the Pirates had superb pitching. The Nats had several runners on base left stranded after countless fly outs and strikeouts. Overall, The Washington bats were quiet and they couldn’t seem to drive in runs when it mattered the most.

The Nats take on the Mets in a 4 game series beginning tomorrow, on July 11th, 2018, with RHP Max Scherzer(11-5, 2.33 ERA) on the mound.
