Recap: Capitals Fall to Jets 3-1

The Washington Capitals were defeated by the Winnipeg Jets by a score of 3-1. The Capitals were coming off a game the night prior, in which they defeated the Minnesota Wild by a score of 5-2. On the other hand, the Jets were coming off full rest, as their previous game before the contest against Washington was against the New Jersey Devils on November 11th, three days before the game against the Capitals. Overall, the Jets took advantage of opportunities in which they were somewhat open, and with goalie, Pheonix Copley being tired after a game the previous night, as he let up three goals in the loss.

Here is a quick summary of last night’s contest. First, Washington left winger, Jakub Vrana, hit an early snap shot(5th goal of the season) to give the Capitals an early 1-0 lead in the first period. Later in the second period, Mark Scheifele took adavantage of a power play and hit a one-timer for a goal which tied the game at 1-1. Afterward, in the third period, Ben Chiarot of the Jets hit a wrist shot to give the Jets a 2-1 lead, and that would be the game winner. However, the Capitals would make an attempt at a comeback, as they pulled their goaltender out of the game, but it would come back to bite them as Kyle Connor would hit an empty net goal to give the Jets a 3-1 victory.

Overall, the Capitals looked tired, and despite playing the night previously, Pheonix Copley played decent in the loss. Adding on, Center, Evgeny Kuznetsov, was injured in the first period which was called an upper body injury, and will be re-evaluated today. Next, the Capitals will take on the Avalanche on Friday, November 16th, at 9 PM eastern standard time.
