Raw Recap 7/23/18

Huge Announcement Regarding Women’s Division

Stephanie McMahon made a big announcement at the beginning of the show regarding the women’s division. She revealed that there will be an all-women’s pay-per-view on October 28 by the name Evolution, which will feature over 50 current and previous WWE women superstars. The show will also see the Raw, Smackdown, and NXT Women’s titles defended, the finals of the Mae Young Classic, and the first defense of the NXT UK Women’s title. More news is expected to come out of this announcement.

Deleters of Worlds Turn Heel

The Deleters of Worlds found themselves a win away from gaining back their Raw Tag Team titles in a match against the B Team. Instead, the match culminated in another slip up from the group, allowing the B Team to retain one more time. Following the match, DOW feigned a clap and congratulations for retaining, only to attack the B Team and turn heel in the process.

Braun’s MITB Could Be In Trouble

Kevin Owens confronted Braun Strowman while he was cutting a promo in the middle of the ring. KO and Constable Baron Corbin offered up ‘counseling’ in the form of Jinder Mahal. Strowman attacked Mahal, sending KO and Corbin to the back to talk to Stephanie and Kurt Angle. Stephanie took a liking to the idea of KO, that if he were to beat Braun at Summerslam, he would then win the Money in the Bank briefcase as well.

Rollins and Ziggler Set for Summerslam

In a match that was supposed to showcase Finn Balor and Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler and Seth Rollins found their way into the limelight. After what was a relatively competitive affair, Ziggler interfered causing a DQ. Rollins appeared shortly thereafter to save Balor from further beating. The match turned into a tag team affair, which saw Balor and Rollins emerge the victors, and led to a backstage interview where we learned that Rollins will face Ziggler for the Intercontinental Title at Summerslam.

Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar Will Meet Again

Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley met one final time to determine who would be main eventing Summerslam against Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. The match lived up to the hype for the most part, with both men hitting spears, with Reigns’ effort proving more lethal. The match was back and forth, and it seemed as though everybody was expecting an interference or an alternate outcome. However, Reigns picked up the victory after a superman punch followed by a spear. We will once again see Reigns and Lesnar, only this time it seems like Reigns is almost guaranteed to take the title.

What to Expect for Raw Next Week

We were informed during the show that Brock Lesnar will be on Raw next Monday night live in person. Ronda Rousey will most likely make an appearance as well, as her suspension will be lifted on Wednesday. You can also expect to see Finn Balor take on Baron Corbin, which was announced before the main event. In what will probably main event the show next Monday night, Seth Rollins is set to take on Drew McIntyre in a very intriguing match. Expect the gaps to be filled in with some semblance of what we have seen over the past two weeks or more, with a few squash matches and another unfortunate but irrelevant squash appearance by AOP.
