Ravens waive Bynes and sign Cox

http://www.csnbaltimore.com/sites/csnbaltimore/files/usatsi_7021350.jpgThe Baltimore Ravens have waived Josh Bynes and signed Derek Cox. This is a surprising cut because Bynes has made several starts for the Ravens the past few seasons.

Bynes has 79 career tackles for the Ravens and I’m sure the team will welcome him back if he is a free agent and they need depth. Ravens’ head coach, John Harbaugh, did say that the Ravens would like to find a way to bring Bynes back. Bynes needs to clear waivers and the Ravens need to make a spot for him.

With the addition of C.J. Mosley and Arthur Brown, Bynes has become expendable; but he is still a very good special teams player and can make plays as a linebacker.

The Ravens signed Cox late in the preseason to add secondary depth and later cut, but was expected to be brought back.
