Ravens Training Camp underway with a few questions to figure out

Matt Bachota / Sean Meekins- Baltimore, MD

Ravens training camp is under way in Owings Mills, Maryland. The veterans and rookies can finally practice along side each other. Veteran guys like Eric Weddle have had over ten training camps and as a result this is second nature to them. On the other hand there are young phonemes such as Lamar Jackson and Hayden Hurst who may not know procedure as well as the vets. Within the ravens roster, there are multiple positions up for grabs such as starting cornerback spots, and even starting wide receiver roles.

Michael Crabtree is a great addition for Joe Flacco on the outside. John Brown and Willie Snead will be competing for the other starting receiving position while the other will most likely be playing in the slot receiver role. This is the first time in awhile that Flacco has had a receiving core as deep and fast as this. With Chris Moore also being able to check into games, this gives Flacco four serious deep threats he could throw to on a first or second down.

The cornerback position for the Baltimore Ravens is also up for grabs to an extent. Jimmy Smith will without a doubt have a starting role for the Ravens right as the season kicks off. Marlon Humphrey and Brandon Carr will compete for the other starting corner spot in the Base 3-4 defense that Baltimore runs. Hopefully for the Ravens, the secondary will continue to get stronger with Eric Weddle leading them.

Will Tim White earn the Punt/Kick return job after Campanaro departed, will Perriman earn a wide receiver job, and will the Ravens who traditionally hold just two QB’s hold Flacco, Jackson and Robert Griffin III?

The Ravens first preseason game is next Thursday August 2nd The Ravens will take on the Chicago Bears in the annual Hall of Fame game taking place before the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies on Saturday August 4th.
