Ravens Trade Eluemunor to the Patriots

According to the Baltimore Ravens, they have traded offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor to the New England Patriots for an undisclosed pick. However, multiple sources are reporting the Patriots are giving the Ravens a sixth round pick for the guard. Eluemunor had spent most of the preseason running with the first string, leading many to speculate he would be this year’s starting left guard. But after a failed conditioning test, a rash of false start penalties and subpar line play, the Ravens decided to move him on.

Eluemunor was a fifth round pick in 2017 and was generally believed to be a development project. He was born in Chalk Farm, London, England and grew up playing Rugby and Cricket. He didn’t even start playing American football until late into his high school years. He initially started playing football at Lackawanna College before being discovered and transferring to Texas A&M.

This makes the Ravens starting left guard position even more muddied. Though the Ravens have a number of players who could fill the left guard position, no one has stood out. The trade of Eluemunor thins out an already thin group at guard making fans wonder if the starting left guard is on the team at this time.

All teams are required to cut their rosters to 53 players by 4:00 PM on Saturday. Teams will be shifting and shuffling, trying to put together the best roster to suit their needs. The Ravens could still be looking to make more moves to strengthen the pass rush, the offensive line and bolster the inside linebacker corps and the sixth round pick the Ravens got for Eluemanor could be used as trade bait to secure a position of need.
