Ravens trade Anquan Boldin to 49ers
The Baltimore Ravens have traded Anquan Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers for a sixth round draft pick. Boldin was one of the Ravens Super Bowl heroes but was not willing to take a pay cut and the Ravens were set to release him. The move upsetted many Ravens fans but the Ravens are happy to get something for Boldin.
At the end of the day at Boldin’s age he was slowing down and the Ravens needed the cap space, his salary was simply too large. Boldin made great catches but was not getting much seperation and caused too many penalties. The move will not be official until Boldin takes a physical.
Boldin was a loved Raven on and off the field and made his mark in the three seasons he played as a Raven. The Ravens do have young depth at wide receiver including players like Tandon Doss.
On a personal take, I got to know Boldin and his family while covering the Ravens training camp in 2010. Boldin stayed in the lobby with his family unlike other players and sat next to me while I did my work.
