Ravens Thanksgiving matchup with Steelers rescheduled to Sunday

The Baltimore Ravens Week 12 primetime road matchup with their archrival Pittsburgh Steelers that was slated to be played on Thanksgiving night has officially been moved to Sunday afternoon. The game will still be broadcasted on NBC but will be played at 1:15 PM easter standard time.

The schedule change comes as a result of a recent outbreak within the Ravens organization where they have had multiple players and other staff members test positive for the coronavirus or come in close contact with those that have contracted following the team’s loss to the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday.

The Ravens have had to place seven players, including five starters, on the Reserve/COVID-19 List since Monday and the list has continued to grow every day since.

Running backs Mark Ingram II and J.K. Dobbins, and nose tackle Brandon Williams were placed on the list Monday. Outside linebacker Pernell McPhee was added Tuesday. Wednesday saw defensive Calais Campbell and offensive linemen Patrick Mekari and Matt Skura get placed on the list as well.

The only player on the list that didn’t test positive for the virus was Williams so he’ll have a chance to play in the rescheduled game after a completes his mandatory five-day quarantine and if his ankle injury that has sidelined for the last two games has healed enough to allow him to suit up.

All players that have tested positive will be required to sit out 10 days and produce negative tests.

This schedule change marks the NFL’s first in over a month dating back to Week Seven and the second time that a Ravens-Steelers matchup was affected.

The first meeting between the two bitter rivals was moved up a week from their original date because the Steelers -Titans game had to get pushed back because Tennessee had a COVID outbreak.

Baltimore is still scheduled to host the Dallas Cowboys next Thursday to kick off Week 13, which means a short week following a physical matchup in Pittsburgh.
