Ravens sign James Hurst

The Baltimore Ravens have signed offensive lineman James Hurst to a four-year deal.  Hurst has been primarly used as a backup who can play almost all the offensive line positions.  Hurst started all 16 games for the Ravens in the 2017 season.

Hurst will ensure the Ravens depth on the offensive line.  Hurst orignally came to the Ravens as an undrafted rookie free agent.

RAVENS SIGN G/T JAMES HURST

The Baltimore Ravens signed G/T James Hurst to a new four-year contract, general manager/executive vice president Ozzie Newsome announced Monday.

The Ravens originally signed Hurst as a rookie free agent out of North Carolina in 2014. He has never missed a game in his professional career, seeing action in 64-consecutive contests (with 32 starts).

“This is good news for our football team,” head coach John Harbaugh stated. “James is a reliable, tough and versatile player who has played a lot of football for us. He has started at both tackle and guard, and all he has been is productive and someone who has made us better.”

In 2017, Hurst started all 16 games for Baltimore, making 15 at left guard and one at left tackle. He helped the Ravens permit the league’s seventh-fewest sacks (27, tied Vikings) and produce the NFL’s ninth-ranked scoring attack (24.7 ppg).

Throughout his four-year career, the 6-5, 317-pounder has started 15 games at left guard, 14 at left tackle, two as a tight end in “jumbo formations” and one at right tackle.
