RAVENS RE-SIGN RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS COX AND REED

The Baltimore Ravens have signed restricted free agents LS Morgan Cox and WR/RS David Reed to two-year contracts, general manager/executive vice president Ozzie Newsome announced Tuesday.

LS Morgan Cox

Entering his fourth NFL season, Cox has played in 48 career games. In 2012, he saw action in all 16 contests and tied a career high with two special teams tackles, also snapping on 83 punts, 42 PATs and 33 FGAs. He also appeared in all four postseason games for the Ravens, snapping on all 16 PATs, 22 punts and four FGAs.

Cox originally signed with Baltimore as a rookie free agent in 2010. He earned the team’s Ed Block Courage Award in 2011 after returning from an ACL injury suffered during the 2010 campaign.

WR/RS David Reed

Entering his fourth NFL season, Reed has appeared in 29 career games with the Ravens, recording five receptions for 66 yards. Also a return specialist, he led the NFL by averaging 29.3 yards per kickoff return (21 for 616) as a rookie in 2010. Reed posted a then-franchise record 103-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open up the second half of the overtime victory at Houston (12/13/10), earning AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Reed, who missed the first 11 games of 2012 on the Physically Unable to Perform list (knee), has also posted 19 special teams tackles, including a career-high 11 as a rookie in 2010. He was originally selected by Baltimore in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
