Ravens Select Trenton Simpson With 86th Pick

The Baltimore Ravens selected Clemson linebacker Trenton Simpson with their 86th overall selection. This is just the second pick the Ravens have made thus far as they used their first round pick to select wide receiver Zay Flowers, they did not have a second round pick.

The 6’3″, 240 pound linebacker had 73 total tackles in 2022 to go along with 2.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles while being names a Butkus award semifinalist.

Simpson has great speed as a linebacker and has quick decision making as well as a terrific blitzer. Simpson will need to improve his coverage and pursuit angles at the next level.

The Ravens declined Patrick Queens fifth-year option leaving a spot open at the end of 2023, Simpson could look to fill the whole left by Queen if the Ravens don’t wish to bring Queen back on a long term deal. Queen has been linked in trade rumors all offseason as well and the addition of Simpson could not give the Ravens options at the linebacker position heading into the season.

The Ravens have three remaining picks in this years draft with one pick in the fourth (124), fifth (157), and sixth round (199).
