Ravens report card versus the Dolphins: The Offense

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Miami Dolphins 26 to 23 in Miami for the Ravens first road victory of the season.

Quarterback: Joe Flacco played tough with a depleted receiving group and a sub par offensive line.  Flacco took a hit almost every time he went to throw.  Flacco went 19 for 32 for 269 passing yards and one interception.  The numbers for Flacco would have been better but the Ravens ran the ball for two touchdowns.  Another game in which the final qb rating does not tell the full story, Flacco played much better than his 73.6 rating.  Grade A

Running backs: The running game got off to another slow start but really came alive late.  Ray Rice had two touchdowns and 27 times for 74 yards.  Rice looked like he had trouble making cuts throughout the game.  The Ravens as a unit finally broke 100 yards rushing, finishing with 133 yards on the ground.  Bernard Pierce was strong averaging 4.2 yards a carry.  Grade B

Receivers: The Ravens were missing Jacoby Jones and Marlon Brown but they still got a lot of production from this unit.  Torrey Smith had six receptions for 121 yards receiving including a 41 yard reception.  Tandon Doss also had a terrific game in his first career start.  Doss had three receptions for 58 yards including a tough diving catch.  Doss also had a big 40 yard reception and some great punt returns.  Ed Dickson had the longest gain of the game with a 43 yard catch.  Dallas Clark was not thrown to in this game..  Grade B+

Offensive line: Flacco can not be happy with this unit, they allowed way too many hits on the quarterback.  Bryant McKinnie was beat on the play where Flacco’s ball was tipped for a pick six.  This unit played better in the second half amd started run blocking better.  Grade C

Overall: The Ravens put together some really strong drives in this game.  The Ravens need to finish drives a s not settle for field goals.  If the offensive line improves they can be lethal.  The more Flacco plays with the young receivers the more comfortable they will be.  Grade B
