Ravens report card: The defense and special teams 11/11/2014

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Tennessee Titans 21 to 7.  For the report card on the offense go here.  The defense was pushed around in the first quarter but only gave up seven points total.

Defensive Line: The defensive line only allowed 67 rushing yards and helped provide five sacks.  Timmy Jernigan had a sack and Haloti Ngata had another solid game.  The defensive line is one of the Ravens strongest positions.  Grade B+

Linebackers:  Terrell Suggs lead the Ravens in tackles and had 1.5 sacks.  Elvis Dumervil had 2.5 sacks and five tackles.  C.J. Mosley and Daryl Smith also had five tackles each.  The Ravens linebacking core is this teams strongest unit.  Grade A

Secondary: Anthony Levine got his first start for the Ravens and actually played pretty well.  Terrence Brooks had the hit of the game and knocked out Delanie Walker.  The hit on Walker was a clean hit and turned the game around for the Ravens.  There still needs to be a lot of improvement in the secondary and hopefully the Ravens bye week will help.  Grade C+

Overall:  Another solid game by the defense which still has potential to get better.  The secondary still needs improvement but the defensive line and linebackers carry the defense.  Grade B

Special Teams: Jacoby Jones had a solid game returning.  Justin Tucker did not have a field goal attempt but was perfect on extra points.  Grade B

Coaching Staff:  This game was all about adjustments and the coaching staff did a brilliant job.  Grade A
