Ravens report card: 9/17/2017

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Cleveland Browns 24 to 10 in Baltimore. The Browns never had a lead and the Ravens defense continued their dominance. The Ravens played very well but did give up some big plays.  The Ravens forced five turnovers which included four interception and a forced fumble.

Quarterback: Joe Flacco played well but did have a bad interception which should have never happened. The Ravens quarterback completed 25 of 34 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Flacco had a 97.3 quarterback rating. Flacco missed some targets but was good enough to get the win. Grade B

Running backs: Terrance West started the game for the Ravens and had a touchdown. Buck Allen shined in the rushing and passing game.  Allen had a touchdown reception and was active in the air game. Alex Collins got some carries and did extremely well averaging six yards a carry but he did lose a fumble. Grade B

Receivers: Ben Watson led the Ravens in receptions and receiving yards. Watson had eight catches for 91 yards and was a first down machine. Jeremy Maclin and Maxx Williams also played well. Breshad Perriman and Mike Wallace need to get more involved. Perriman needs to stop dropping passes. Grade B

Offensive line: The offensive line held up well when Marshal Yanda went down with an injury.  The offensive line only allowed two sacks and have allowed few quarterback hits.  Credit the line for the Ravens averaging 4.3 yards per carry.  Grade A

Defensive line: The Ravens defense was lights out and it starts up front.  The Ravens only had three sacks and at times could have had more pressure but this unit is still money.  The Browns did have 93 rushing yards and a good portion of that came from DeShone Kizer.  Grade B+

Linebackers: Terrell Suggs is ageless, he had a sack fumble and was flying around.  C.J. Mosley lead the Ravens with 10 tackles.  Tyrus Bowser had his first career interception.  This unit did not make many mistakes.  Grade A

Secondary: This unit gave up a few big pass plays but did have three interceptions.  Ladarius Webb, Brandon Carr, and Eric Weddle had interceptions.  Marlon Humphrey played very well.  This unit is solid and will cause a lot of turnovers this season.  The NFL is on notice that they are ball hawks.  Grade A

Special teams: Justin Tucker missed a rare field goal.  The coverage teams are awesome and Sam Koch was money today.  Grade B

Coaching Staff: The Ravens were ready to play today.  The Ravens need to end the big plays allowed, which they will.  Grade A

Overall:  The defense once again shined, the offense is still trying to find it’s big plays.  This Ravens team is a good one but replacing Yanda will not be easy.  Grade A
