Ravens report card: 8/30/2018

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Washington Redskins 30 to 20 in the final preseason game. Mostly backups played in this game and most played very well.

Quarterbacks: Lamar Jackson got the start in this game and played well. Jackson went nine for 15 for 109 yards and a rushing touchdown. Jackson most impressive play was hitting Mark Andrews for a long pass.

Josh Woodrum was three for eight on passes for 37 yards. Woodrum had a touchdown and an interception that was not his fault. Good game by Woodrum. Grade B

Running backs: Mark Thompson and De’Lance Turner both played extremely well. With help of the quarterbacks the Ravens rushed for 180 yards. Unfortunately the Ravens can not keep all of their running backs. Thompson and Turner would be great practice squad guys. Grade A

Receivers: Breshad Perriman had three good catches but also had two lazy plays and did not help blocking. Mark Andrews looked great with three catches for 61 yards including a long 45 yarder. Grade B

Offensive line: The offensive line only allowed one sack and opened up wholes for the running game. Grade A

Overall Offense: The third and fourth string offense looked solid. Grade B+

Defensive line:  Patrick Rickard and Bronson Kaufusi lead the defense for the Ravens.  Rickard had a strip fumble and a recovery and played fullback.  Kaufusi had ten tackles and two sacks, in a last ditch effort to make the Ravens roster.  The Ravens had four total sacks: Grade A

Linebackers:  Kenny Young and Chris Board are both in line to make the Ravens 53-man roster.  Board had an impressive ten tackles.  Grade B+

Secondary:  The Ravens secondary let up 243 passing yards but also had two interceptions. Kai Nacua  had a great pick six but has already gotten cut by the Ravens.  The Ravens played a lot of young players.  Grade C

Overall Defense:  The Ravens young defensive players played great minus a handful of drives.  Grade B

Special Teams:  Kaare Vedvik was a perfect three for three on kicks and punted well.  On any other team their would be a kicking controversy.  The return game still has it’s question-marks.  Grade A

Coaching staff:  Another preseason win, John Harbaugh’s staff has gone 5-0 in the preseason.  The Ravens look ready for real action.  Grade A

Overall:  This team is ready. Grade A
