Ravens report card: 8/25/2018

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Miami Dolphins 27 to 10 in week three of the preseason.  The Ravens unconventually did not dress some of their star players in this game while they faced the Dolphins starters.  Quarterback Joe Flacco was one of the players not to dress.

Quarterbacks:  The Ravens started Robert Griffin III in this game and he played well completing nine out of 15 of his passes for 66 yards.  RGIII was also big in the running game as he was the Ravens second leading rusher.

Lamar Jackson had a comeback game and was the star of the game for the Ravens.  Jackson completed seven out of ten passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.  Jackson also provided a rushing touchdown and had a 134.6 quarterback rating.

Josh Woodrum saw some action this week and even he played well finishing with a 91.3 qb rating.

Overall no turnovers by the quarterbacks which is outstanding.  Grade A+

Running backs: De’Lance Turner burst onto the scene with a 65 yard touchdown run.  The Ravens running backs struggled in this game with some injuries on the offensive line.  Gus Edwards continues to impress but his yards per carry was low at 2.4 yards per carry.  Grade B

Receivers: Tim White had a big day with three catches for 70 yards.  DeVier Posey came out of no where to have a big day including a touchdown.  Jordan Lasley finally got in some good action with three receptions for 30 yards.  Breshad Perriman who is fighting for a roster spot had two short receptions.  Grade B

Offensive line:  With Ronnie Stanley out the Ravens sat a lot of starters.  The offensive line allowed three sacks and failed to open up big running lanes for the running backs.  The line was going against the Dolphins starters for a good portion of the game and did well.  Grade C

Overall Offensive:  Lamar Jackson had a great game, quarterback play shined in this game for the offense.  Grade B+

Defensive line: The Ravens defensive line played great allowing only 63 rushing yards.  More impressive was the five sacks the Ravens defensive line helped with.  Grade A

Linebackers: Kenny Young continues to impress providing a big sack.  Chris Board may be the next undrafted linebacker to make the Ravens 53-man roster.  Grade B

Secondary:  Chuck Clark had another preseason interception and six tackles.  Stanley Jean-Baptiste also had an interception and played well.  This unit for the Ravens is very deep but still allowed a lot of passing yards.  Grade B

Overall Defense:  The Ravens defense allowed only 10 points all game and players like Terrell Suggs and Eric Weddle did not dress.  Grade A

Special Teams: Justin Tucker is not having a good preseason, yet again missing a long field goal, Tucker missed two field goals.  Besides that the special teams was solid.  Grade C

Coaching staff:  The Ravens continue their dominance in the preseason and look ready for the regular season.  Grade A

Overall:  The Ravens went on the road and beat a team that played their starting quarterback for a good portion of the game despite playing mostly backups.  Grade A
