Ravens report card: 10/7/2018

The Baltimore Ravens lost to the Cleveland Browns 12 to 9 late in overtime. The Ravens had a chance to put the Browns away several times but failed.

Quarterback: Joe Flacco did not have his best game but also did not play horribly. Flacco’s interception came on a tipped ball in the red zone which was not good. Flacco completed 29 out of 56 passes for 298 yards. Grade C

Running backs: Buck Allen had a rare fumble which was not good, he has not fumbled since 2015. Alex Collins had some good runs and finished with 59 yards.
Grade C

Receivers: Micheal Crabtree had a horrible game, yes he had six catches for 66 yards….. see that 666, and horrid drops all in between. Crabtree also dropped a touchdown pass that would have won the game. Brown had four catches but was covered most of the game very well by the Browns. Willie Snead was solid as usual. For the most part the receivers were covered giving Flacco a hard time finding options. Grade D

Offensive line: Flacco was only sacked twice but he was under pressure all game. This unit played well for the most part. Grade C

Overall Offense:  No offensive touchdowns will not win many games.  Grade D

Defensive line: The Ravens let up 112 rushing yards and an average of four yards per game. This unit was missing Micheal Pierce who is a big loss. The Ravens also had five sacks which was good. Grade B

Linebackers: CJ Mosley had a good game with nine tackles. This unit was solid, covering tight ends is still and issue. Grade B

Secondary: Tavon Young had a great game with an interception and four tackles. This unit played great until the final moments of overtime. Grade A

Overall Defense: The defense played great, and set up the offense with many chances to win the game.  Grade B+

Special Teams: Another one of Justin Tuckers field goals was blocked, which is starting to be a problem. Tucker was perfect on kicks that were not blocked. Tim White had some good returns. Grade B

Coaching Staff: The Ravens offense was not ready for a good Browns defense on the road. The Browns defensive coaches seemed like they out coached the Ravens. Grade D

Final Thoughts: After a great victory on the road in Pittsburgh in Prime Time the Ravens laid a dud. Yes, the Browns had a talented team but this was a very winnable game for the Ravens and they needed to walk away with a victory.
