Ravens release Michael Crabtree
The Baltimore Ravens have released Michael Crabtree from his contract, according to Adam Schefter. Crabtree came to Baltimore on a three-year
21-million-dollar contract hoping to revitalize his career.
The 31-year-old was not successful in Baltimore and will not be continuing in the
Lamar Jackson era.
Crabtree posted 54 catches for 607 yards to go along with a career low three touchdowns. He led the NFL with eight drops and was not the big bodied receiver of years past. 472 of his receiving yards came with Joe Flacco over nine games. In seven games with Lamar he was only able to put up 135 on 13 catches.
With Crabtree being cut and John Brown leaving in free agency the Ravens currently have only two players who have caught a regular season pass, Willie Snead and Chris Moore. The rest of the receiving core is made up of 2nd year guys Jaleel Scott (IR), Jordan Lasley (health scratch), and Quincy Adeboyejo. The Ravens will gain $4.6 million in cap space with this cut bringing up Ravens cap space to an expected $23 million.
