Ravens QB Lamar Jackson missed practice with a minor knee injury

The Baltimore Ravens hit the practice field for the first time this week on Wednesday without their starting quarterback, Lamar Jackson. The reigning league MVP was held out of practice because he’s dealing with a minor knee injury.

The Ravens improved to 3-1 with a 31-17 win over the Washington Football Team in Week Four and are getting ready to host the Cincinnati Bengals for an AFC North divisional matchup in Week Five.

This is Jackson’s first time popping on the injury report this season and when he spoke to reporters before practice, he didn’t mention that he was dealing with an injury. Head Coach John Harbaugh didn’t mention that his star quarterback was dealing with anything in his Monday presser where provided injury updates for the team. He said the Ravens are in “good shape going forward.”

Jackson has only missed one game in his career, and it wasn’t due to injury. Last year the Ravens finished as the hottest team in the regular season and had their division, the top seed in the AFC, and home-field advantage locked up before the season finale. Jackson and several other key starters sat out their Week 17 home matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore was still able to cruise to a 28-10 win.

In the first four weeks of this season, he has thrown for 769 yards and seven touchdowns to just one interception, completed nearly 70 percent of his passes, and added 235 yards and a touchdown rushing as well.

This is likely just a precautionary absence by the team to give their quarterback, whose legs are a big part of their game plan on offense, some additional time to heal up and be full-go for the upcoming week’s game.

His status for Sunday’s showdown with first overall pick Joe Burrow and the Bengals is not to believe to be in doubt so Ravens fans can collectively exhale a sigh of relief and Jackson’s haters will have to continue to hold on to the I told you so’s about him being able to hold up with his dynamic playing style.
