T.J. Weist, who joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2018 as a coaching analyst, has been promoted to Assistant Special Teams Coach, Head Coach John Harbaugh announced Tuesday.

Weist will work alongside newly-appointed Special Teams Coach Chris Horton, as well as Assistant Special Teams Coach Randy Brown.

Familiar with the Harbaugh family coaching legacy, Weist coached under John’s father, Jack, at Western Kentucky for one season (2002), later serving as a Senior Offensive Analyst on Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan staff in 2015. (Weist was at Western Kentucky for a total of nine seasons from 2002-09.)

Among other stops in his career, Weist coached at the University of Connecticut, where he served as Interim Head Coach for part of 2013, and at South Florida, where he was also named Interim Head Coach prior to the Bulls’ 2016 Birmingham Bowl game.

He has also coached at Southern Illinois, Tulsa, Indiana and Cincinnati, gaining experience with a variety of offensive positions.

Weist attended the University of Alabama, where he played wide receiver from 1985-87, before taking his first coaching role with the Crimson Tide as a graduate assistant in 1988.
