Ravens position battles: The wide receivers

The Baltimore Ravens have a big battle for the remaining wide receiver positions after Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin. The Ravens have a potential to keep four or five wide receivers. Here is how the battle is shaping up so far.

LaQuan Williams– A big receiver who made the team last year and saw some action as the third receiver and as a return man. Williams is strong and has moves, he was undrafted out of Maryland but made the Ravens last season. Little doubt he makes the team giving that he can contribute on special teams and on offense. The question is where he plays. He had a big game against the Jacksonville Jaquars where he scored a touchdown.

Tandon Doss– A little lost in the shuffle. Doss has missed time with injuries since being drafted by the Ravens. He is another big receiver who has great hands. Doss needs to stay healthy in order to stay on the team. The talent is there for Doss.

Deonte Thompson– Thompson is one of those guys that has come out of no where and impressed in preseason play. He is a speed receiver who has a knack for making big plays. He has been impressive to say the least. It will be hard for him to make the roster, the fourth preseason game will be big for Thompson.  Thompson has earned himself a spot on the practice squad at the very least.

Jacoby Jones– A free agent pickup and deep threat. Jones will be on the Ravens team and will probably be a return specialist. He is a strong candidate for the third receiver position.

Tommy Streeter– a talented rookie, Ravens drafted him so you can bet that they want him to make the team.   Streeter was drafted in the sixth round by the Ravens, which gives him a good chance of making the final roster.  The Ravens hate cutting draft picks.
