Ravens place three more players on Reserve/COVID-19 List
The Baltimore Ravens continued to have their roster ravaged by the organization’s recent outbreak of positive COVID-19 cases and close contacts via contract tracing on Friday when they had four more players test positive for the virus.
The league decided to push back their Week 12 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers a second time the morning after the news broke that starting quarterback and reigning league MVP Lamar Jackson.
In addition to Jackson, the Ravens also placed fullback Patrick Ricard, rookie defensive tackle Justin Madubuike and long-snapper Morgan Cox on the reserve list on Friday and according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, practice squad offensive lineman Will Holden tested positive and will be placed on the list as well.
The Ravens have had to place 12 players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list since Monday and now have 14 players on the list overall.
Here is the full list of the players Baltimore placed on the reserve list in order of the day they either tested positive or were deemed high risk via contact tracing:
Monday- RB Mark Ingram II, RB J.K. Dobbins, NT Brandon Williams
Tuesday- LB Pernell McPhee
Wednesday- DE Calais Campbell, OL Patrick Mekari, OL Matt Skura
Thursday- QB Lamar Jackson, DE Jihad Ward
Friday- FB Patrick Ricard, DT Justin Madubuike, LS Morgan Cox, OL Will Holden (reportedly)
Ricard is following up his Pro Bowl season with another strong one and is an integral part of the Ravens run game that already lost blocking tight end Nick Boyle for the season last week.
Madubuike is a key member of the Ravens’ defensive line rotation and has had to step up in the last three games after Campbell went down with a calf strain.
Cox is the often-overlooked member of the Ravens’ specialist trio formally known as the Wolf Pack and will miss his first game since suffering a season-ending knee injury in 2014.
The team has carried and protected practice squad long snapper Nick Moore for most of the season as a precautionary measure for this exact instance happened and he will likely be called up for this week’s game.
Holden reverted back to the practice squad after being called up to the active roster last week. He played well in the second half against the Tennessee Titans and will likely be in consideration for permanent promotion to the active roster when he’s healthy.
