Ravens Land Free Agent Receiver, Watkins

The Baltimore Ravens and free agent receiver, Sammy Watkins agreed on Friday to a one-year, $6 million dollar deal, $5 million fully guaranteed.

After meeting with the Ravens on Tuesday, Watkins left Baltimore without a deal, but in the end the two sides were able to agree to a deal. Giving the Ravens a free agent receiver they desperately needed.

Drafted with the fourth pick in 2014 by the Buffalo Bills, Watkins played in all 16 games, the only time in his seven year career he has done this.

Watkins spent three seasons with the Bills before being traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2017. Watkins signed with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018 where he spent the last three seasons.

Watkins was instrumental in the Chiefs 2019 Super Bowl win, catching five passes for 98 yards including a key 38-yard reception to set up what would become the winning score.

Watkins is a reliable receiver when healthy, but staying on the field has been an issue as Watkins has only played in 24 games total the past two seasons.

Watkins will be joining a young Baltimore receiving core that will likely look to add another young receiver in April’s draft.
